Tom Mays Trail

Location

From the junction of I-10 and Trans-Mountain road, go east on Trans-Mountain road 3.8 miles. Turn left at the park entrance. Stop and pay the park fee at the gate, or proceed to the ranger booth as the signs direct. Once the park fee is paid, return to the park entrance and turn left at the parking lot just before exiting the park.

Description

The trail starts as a wide flat well-marked trail headed east toward the mountain. The trail is east of and parallel to the park main road. This trail passes over several roads, parking lots and rest rooms. You will need to watch where it goes but if you go straight across you will pick it up again. At the fork, take the right. The left goes to the ranger booth. Beyond the ranger booth the trail is very dim and difficult to follow for about 200 yards. There is a dim fork, take the right again. This may improve, they are working on it. The trail continues along crossing roads and parking lots until reaching the end loop on the north end of the park. Return via reverse route.
